TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama freshman defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, on Sunday the organization announced.

Fitzpatrick, a true freshman from Old Bridge, N.J., returned two interceptions for touchdowns against Texas A&M, going 33 and 55 yards for scores. He is the only player in Alabama history (via records verified back to 1948) to return two interceptions for scores in the same game.

Fitzpatrick added two solo tackles as the Crimson Tide limited the Aggies to just one offensive touchdown and 316 yards of total offense, 164 yards below their season average. His 88 interception return yards was tied for the seventh most in a single game in school history.

He is the 10th Alabama player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the sixth defensive back. Reggie Ragland was named the Chuck Bednarik Award National Defensive Player of the Week following the Arkansas game.

The No. 8 Crimson Tide return home this Saturday to host Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on CBS. SEC Nation, the SEC Network’s Saturday morning pregame show, will also originate for Tuscaloosa from 9-11 a.m.
