BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Alabama sophomore punter JK Scott was
named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of
the Week following his performance against Tennessee, the
league office announced on Monday.
The second-year punter put together four punts for 199
total yards in the Crimson Tide's 19-14 victory over
Tennessee Saturday evening. He averaged 49.8 yards, but
more importantly netted 44.0 yards on those four kicks.
Scott had two punts travel over 55 yards, and twice
pinned the ball inside the Volunteers 10-yard line to
help flip the field for the Tide.
He has continued to improve each week and is averaging
46.3 yards per punt (15 punts) in the last three games
with six traveling 55 yards or more. Scott was a
finalist for the Ray Guy Award last season, given
annually to the nation's top punter, and looks to
be again this season.
